The name Tommies is applicable to all British Soldiers of World War One and is not specific to the English.

The Welsh have generally been called Taffs, Taffy etc. This is [I think] after the name of the River Taff which divides Wales and England at some point.

don't think all those names can just be linked to ww2, but going by the examples given I'd say taffs, or taffies.

As most have said, Taff, I spent twelve years in the RAF from1962 and was always known by that name.

It originates from the River Taff which runs past the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff.
