Position:Home>History> Did Adolf Hitler have a sense of humor?

Question:I ask because I know some people that don't seem to have a sense of humor (except maybe a twisted sense of humor) and I instantly don’t like them even if they really have not done anything to me. It makes me wonder if people without much of a sense of humor are more likely to do horrible things. I have never heard anything about Hitler, Stalin, Mao or other tyrants having any kind of sense of humor. If you know of some reference to Mao liking Knock Knock jokes or something, I would like to know. I am not interested in hearing that Hitler thought killing Jews was funny and other sick stuff.
What do you think about lack of humor being an indicator that someone could be capable of evil? If that is true, would you not keep a close eye on people that are too serious?

Hitler on hearing that the Jew Weininger had decided that jews could never originate anything and killed himself, said that Weininger was the only good Jew and hoped that all the others would follow his example.

Oh, and as for Mao, once as a child he was watching a circus when one of the highwire artistes lost her footing and fell to her death, and he found it hilarious!

When some Jews petitioned Stalin for an autonomous republic, he gave them one in Siberia close to the Arctic circle, and shipped several thousand of them there.

Yes he was a stand up comedian

Yes he did. There are home movies of him laughing with friends. Your premise is not based on ANY scientific evidence and is blatantly false. Even the worst serial killers made jokes. John Wayne Gacy was a clown!

i know he was into art and liked to paint but for some reason never painted people.

i think he did i watched a documentary were they claimed to have a recoding of him joking around on a train the ss officers apparently threanted to kill the man for leaving a recorder above his seat but yess he joked to soo i guess .. yaaa .. many dictators are also said to be nice to be around even castro we paint as evil has humor ... soo was sadam ... so if that answers your question ... i say no humor is a part of nature every one even the bad can have a good side when they choose ... im a history student i love this stuff ...

A home movie, without sound, was recently reviewed using lipreading software, there are jokes – not hugely funny – but certainly jokes.

"You talk about a dress that does not fit … imagine my problems," he says with exasperation to his lover.

…reserved his bitchiest remark for Goering.

"I looked at him across the dining table and then I knew that what they say was true," he says, "that pigs eat the flesh of their own."

Yea, a very sick sense of humor.
