Unlike now that we don't see the caskets coming in with the dead soldiers' bodies (because the TVs filter a lot of things), at the time of the Vietnam war people felt the war closer to home, and they demanded an end to the war.
Right now in the US it doesn't even seem that we are at war, turn the TV on, they just give the number of fatalities, but no family crying, nothing to arouse our feelings. A shame!!!
