well the onli reason it happend is because US is capitalist so the goverment didnt think to have a backup system for the bank sooo u can say it didnt help to prevent the great depression in any way but i dont think it contributed to it enough to be a noticable blame on the goverment

what .... me... ?

Wanna see a great depression...Go to a mental hospital on a rainy day. Can I get an applause here y'all killin me? Ba dum dum dum (that's supposed to sound like drums)

Well are you talking about 1929 or are you talking about now? Cuz if its now all i can say is blame bush.

duuuuuhhhhhh

Well, it ended up happening anyways. There are lots of "Well, if we just would've done _________, then it would have been different." We will never be able to tell. Hindsight's always 20/20.

theres not going to be another great depression..my civics teacher told me, we asked her that one day and she said that no there wasnt going to be another great depression..so yeah

read all about it and you may get your answer lol....

a big part of the great depression was that people bought a lot of stuff on credit and then couldn't pay it back and then, suddenly, all the banks crashed. i don't know if it's the gov't's fault though. i hope you aren't using this site to cheat.

oh definitely.

alot of countries can.

i'm not going anti american or anything but seriously

in the 20's, though we went through a big "economic boom" what we were really doing was separating the rich and the poor, letting hte gap grow bigger and bigger, making the stock market crash a much harder hit

but also.... it came because of the effects of WW1. basically europe was destroyed in that war. and so when the stock market crashed, there was nothing to help the U.S., which because of the war was like one of the leading nations in economic terms.

when we were gone, the world succumbed to the deppression.

but if we hadnt intervened in teh first war, Germany would have won, and the effects would have been much worse.

I do believe JJ the great is predicting a New Great Depression and if something isn't done about the fallout from about 50,000,000 Americans having to let go of their homes, there will be a 21ST CENTURY Great Depression, and something that bad for that many people could destroy the United States, it's no joke. The great depression of the 20th century could have meant the end if Roosevelt didn't take extreme measures.

My thoughts are these;
The Great depression was caused by uncontrolled greed.
Anti-monopoly laws were enacted to prevent further exploitation of the general public's ideals.
Today, corporations have circumvented all written laws.
The laws regarding monopolies need to be updated.
