People who project their ideas at you just because of a nasty history between yo

Question:I get a lot of sh.. from some people I meet because I come from Russia and it get loaded with the history that I was never involved in. I only lived there for one year of my life! Why do they let the history of their country live on inside them like this? I dont pester anyone because of what happened.

The negative comments regarding Russia may stem ultimately from their lack of knowledge about the country. Its easy to bring up Cold War Communism or Stalin because they see movies about it. In one way they may also be trying to build themselves up and claim they are from a place w/ more superior than you. The simple fact is I personally am Jealous over Russian history because they have so much of it. Russia has 1000s of buildings older than the US itself. Be proud of Russian history, it is much more spectacular than that of the US.
People who are projecting their ideas purely based on history between countries only have one lopsided point of view. Because of the biased nature their idea stem from, it is useless.
If you want to quickly shut them up, remember a few important dates regarding the topic that gets brought up the most. When they start to rant cut them off and ask if they know whey such and such happened. If they stall to much just simply tell them to move on because they dont know anything about the topic. They will probably never challenge you again regarding the history between the countries. Anyone who does happen to know the facts and dates probably will not give you a hassle because they are smart enough not to.
