It's like the elephant and the mouse - regardless of what the mouse wants to do, it's the elephant who runs the show, rightly or wrongly. There have been many cases where Canada disagreed with US policies, but the US generally pays little or no attention and just goes ahead and does what it wants.
Canada is a more humanitarian country, on a per capita basis they provide more international aid than the US, and they provide better conditions for their lesser privileged citizens. They ain't perfect, but they're sure looking good!

We live with Canadian transplants, so to speak, and we consider them good friends and equal in every way. I don't understand why that should not be everyone's view.
