Question: Origin of the last name Scharphorn!?

It's not my last name, it's actually my boyfriends, but we were sitting here discussing it, and neither of us know where his last name would originate from!? We were thinking German, but it'd be cool if someone could give us a solid answer!. It's pretty impossible to find on most genealogy sites without paying for service!.
