Question: Can anyone help with Irish Genealogy!?
I am trying to find my Irish ancestry!.
My mum, Mary Paget, born in Dublin 1924 died last year!. Her parents Robert Paget and Kate Rohan were born 1896 & 1899 respectively, in Dublin!.
The 1911 census shows them in Dublin!.

Can anyone help me with their parents!?
I am struggling!
Thank youWww@QuestionHome@Com

I've had a look in the 1911 census and can't find two entries that agree with the info you have provided!. There is a Robert Paget, aged 11 ie born 1899/90, with his older brother at the Boys Home (suggesting their parents were dead), and there is an 18-year-old Kathleen Rohan, ie born 1892/3, living with her father, Philip and others!.

Presumably these entries should be ignored!.!.!.!.!?

Either way, if you have the names, years and location (Dublin) of birth for Robert Paget and Kate Rohan, you might be able to obtain their birth certificates through the General Register Office in Roscommon!. Birth certificates will provide you with the names of your mother's grandparents, and where they were living at the time!.

Alternatively, if you know when Robert and Kate married, you should be able to obtain their marriage certicate, again from GRO!. The marriage certificates will give you their fathers' names, but not their mothers' maiden names!.

An application form can be downloaded from www!.groireland!.ie!. There is no online facility!.

Fill in the forms with as much info as you are sure of and post with credit card details!. Each certificate will cost you 6 Euros!.Takes about three weeks!.

The GRO staff are extremely helpful!. If they can't immediately find the right entry, they will look two years either side of the date you provide!. If they still can't find the right entry, they will charge you 4 Euros for each search and advise you accordingly!.

Alternatively, you could wait until the 1901 census is online (next summer if the National Archives are to be believed, but don't hold your breath!) to see if that throws up any more pertinent information!.

Don't bother with Ancestry!. It's a great site, but pretty useless for Irish genealogy!. You might also like to try www!.irish-genealogy-toolkit!.com for a comprehensive guide to tackling your Irish family research!.

only thing i can say is try Ancestry!.com but you might have to pay to really get what your looking forWww@QuestionHome@Com
