Question: I need to find a possible family member!!?
I was told this weekend by an uncle that I have a sibling!. I am 33 and they would be about 29 or 30!. My bio dad is a jerk, left me and left them!. He will not fess up that it is true!. However my uncle can not remember the name of the child's mother or the child!.

Is there any way to find out who they are!? I know they were likely born in California since that is where the mom lived when she got pregnant!. He bailed out of Cali when he found out he was going to be a dad for the second time!. For the record, I have always lived in Texas!.

Are there any websites where you can look up a father's name on a birth certifiate only!? I am desperate!.

Please help!. I would love to find this person!. I have always been an only child!. Thanks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ancestry!.com has an index to CA birth records!. You could possibly access it through a free trial membership!. You can also access it for free through your library if they have a library membership to Ancestry!. You could do a search with your fathers last name to see!. It may want more info though!. It would be better if you had the county and/or the mother's maiden name!. Good Luck!. That's the best I could come up with!. Without the mother's name I'm afraid you're up against a brick wall!. The baby may have been put up for adoption and the records wouldn't be available to anyone but him/her or he/she may not know they're adopted or other circumstances!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If your uncle could narrow it down to a possible City, or even area, in California, it would help your search!.
There is a possibility that the mother may not have admitted his name on the Registration if he had already left her, so if you are able to check all births around the correct time, make special note of any registered without a father!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wow this is exiciting news aan early christimas present!. you can look up cyndislist!.com and even try ancestry!.com I beleive you can search for records --you may even want to look at adoption-maybe the baby was given to a family member or may have had a different father--nothing says that the mother could have lied on the birth certificate!. Hope you find them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Birth records aren't listed by the father's name!. They are listed by the mother's maiden name or the child's name!. There's a possibility using his name you could search on ancestry or gen-forum!. Many states now will play intermediary for siblings!.

You would have to contact the state Dept!. of Health Services in the state capitol where he was adopted!. I don't know how much info you have to have!. But once you have it they contact the child at the last known address & ask if they want contact with the sibling!.

You could also ask your uncle if there is anyone else that might know who she or the child was!.

Have you considered asking your mom or is it still a touchy subject!? With no other info besides what your uncle told you I'd doubt you'd be able to find them unless the mom listed him on the birth cert!. Most didn't back then!. Sorry I couldn't help more!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
