1980 Census Abbreviations?

Question: 1980 Census Abbreviations!?

I am working on my genealogy and have come across a few abbreviations in the 1980 census records that are unclear to me!. They are BAV, PRU, and GE in regards to where my ancestors were born!. I'd appreciate any help that anyone could give me!. I've already checked the common abbreviations and didn't find anything!. Thank you for the help!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I suspect you mean 1880, not 1980!.

BAV = Bavaria
PRU = Prussia
Given that, GE is probably "Ger", which is Germany!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Understand that in the 1800s!.!. a person being LITERATE might be someone who actually went as far as the 6th grade!. Abbreviations can be their own shorthand!.
Be sure to get all relevant documents/ census records!. Pay attention to all children and place of birth, to estimate possible time frame for immigration!. If they were naturalized, you might find those documents!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
