I have a quarter belgium, and a quarter English!. English people also had been atttacked at that time by the Romans!. The romans interbred with the English people!. So!.!.!. You think if I actually did have Roman, would it be a lot, or a little!. Belgium & English are the two dominant heritages!. It is unlikely to survive very long, any more than 'Czechoslovakia' did!. The Roman province of Gallia Belgica extended from the North Sea, down through Western Switzerland and as far as Reims!. It is almost certain that you have 'Roman' ancestry in you, however - only a tiny proportion of the Roman Empire was composed of people who had ever even been to Rome!. The legions were composed of many nationalities for centuries, but you can be certain that their descendants are everywhere in all the lands which came under the rule of Rome!. Even the celtic languages at the fringe of the empire contain many words directly derived from Latin, and we now know that there were Roman towns and bases in areas which were outside what was considered the Empire proper, such as North Germany and Ireland!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Roman soldiers came from all over the world, not just Rome itself!. I have been told by someone who was involved in Archaeology that the original Greeks and Romans were very similar to the people in that area today!. If you and I are related just because we had the same ancestor 2000 years ago - then we would or could be 30th cousins 5 times removed!. That is NOT a close relation as far as I am concerned!. My close relations usually stop at 3rd cousins!. If I have any 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th etc cousins, I dont know them, or I havent found them yet!.Www@QuestionHome@Com |
