As strange as this might sound I would suggest you start by contacting the Mormons (aka The Church of Latter Day Saints)!. Due to a few facets of their belief system genealogy is very important to them!. Their database in Salt Lake City is one of the largest in the world!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do a search on the web, everyone has a cousin that they haven't seen in years who has done some of the research already!. in a search engine type in
(your last name)+genealogy
you can also try
(your last name)+family
