I think you already have your answer, that the baby was most likely put up for adoption!. Is is someone you are tracing down line!? Have you been able to follow this child's family either to ancestors or descendants!? There may be a further clue with other family members!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Was there a father's name!?

It's a very strange entry!. Perhaps the mother was from a family of some influence, that her child was illegitimate and they managed to pull some strings so that she didn't go on record as having a child out of wedlock (of course this only applies if there's no father listed either)!.

Another possibility is that the local priest omitted her name because she had died in childbirth!.!.!. though this would be an error (she should be named with "deceased" marked after her name or something similar)Www@QuestionHome@Com
