Question: How likely is it to have a redhead baby!?
I'm hispanic, 100%, brunette and tanned!.!.!.kinda!.!.!.both my parents have dark hair, although my dad has a couple of brothers who had redhair when younger (it changed as they got old) and they both had redhead children (with brunnete wives), also from my mom's side I have 2 redhead "second" cousins!.!.!.total of 6 known ginger relatives!.!.!.which makes me wonder if this means I have the gene in my side!.!.!.

My husband's a redhead, his dad's too, his mom's a brunette (but her dad was a redhead, that's where the gene was passed to my husband from her side) none of his siblings are!. What are the chances of us having a redhead baby!? They say the gene must be carried by both parents, so I'm confussed, if I have the gene in my side, from both sides of my family there are gingers, that means my uncles carried it, not only their wives!.!.!.so is it in my family too!? None of my grandparents showed redhair!.

My hair is brown, not too dark not too light, but is sooo weird sometimes it looks redish in the sun, and the ends are pretty red sometimes it impresses me!.!.!.how can I know if I carry the gene!?!?!? and how likely is it for us to conceive a ginger child!?

Thank you for your kindness!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, if your father's brothers shared the same parent with the gene as your brother, then the gene is somewhere in your father, it just didn't come out with you!. Since your husband definitely has the gene, and yours is watered down a bit since your father's redhead gene is recessive and your mother's is recessive, there is a chance that you can have a child with red hair!. It's entirely possible for your baby's great grandfather to pass on red hair to your baby provided that both you and your husband carry that recessive gene!. Although I'm primarily of Scottish and Irish descent (great places for red heads, btw), I'll cite my family as an example: My maternal grandmother had strawberry blonde hair: Two of her five children had auburn (red) hair while three of them had light brown hair!. My mother was one of the ones who had light brown hair!. My dad had dark brown hair, although as a child he was a blond!. Neither my brother nor I had red hair, although I have auburn highlights in otherwise dark brown hair, and my brother is a blond with a red beard!. My brother and his wife have four children, but only my youngest nephew has auburn hair!. (The other three have blond or light brown hair)!.

Incidentally, my second oldest niece is a studying at the University of St!. Louis in Madrid and notes that many Castilian Spaniards look a lot like her, and she certainly has a "Celtic complexion"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
