Question: If I had a DNA paternity test can I use it again to see heritage!?
Yes, Last year I went through troubles with a paternity test, anyway long story short I have my genetic markers on a piece of paper, I dont understand them, but thought can these be used as a marker of my genetic family heritage, or is it the complete wrong set of genetic markers on the page, is there any website that would show strong markers in certain groups Www@QuestionHome@Com

That is a great question!. The genetic markers that are used in paternity testing are completely different than those that are used in ancestry testing!. The markers used in paternity testing are generally the same fifteen used for identification and a part of the CODIS system!.

Ancestry DNA testing has its own set of markers that are tested!. Depending on what you are trying to determine you may have markers on your y-chromosome tested (males only), your mtDNA, or markers in your autosomal DNA!.

Either way, unfortunately, the information you received from your paternity test will not help in your search for your genetic ancestry!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

go to

www!.23andme!.com

it gives you a test, takes 4-6 weeks and tells you all you would want to know and is kind a interesting!.

other than that they are just markings!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
