Yes, your ancestry is from Africa, which is another word for heritage!.
MOST people wrongly assume that all persons from Africa will always be non Caucasian!. This is not a fact!.!. you yourself are proof of this!.
You cannot confuse nationality (which links to a political place) with race/ethnic heritage!.
HOW YOU PHRASE SOMETHING is open to being explicit, or confusing!. For example!.!. to label yourself as "African" is vague, even though "correct"!. On the other hand!.!. "my mother and her parents were all born in Johannesburg" is very exact and factual!. The same applies to me!.!.I have ancestry born in Poland, which does mean Polish heritage!. I am not Polish!. I was born in California!.
The more exact you are!.!. the better it is, and less room for conlict or confusion!.
And at the risk of stirring up an election dispute!.!. YOU know that Africa is a collection of different countries!. *smile*!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well since your mother and her family were born and raised in africa you absotutely : ) have african heritage!. What america needs to do is to stop categorizing peoples races!. did you know that rosa parks wasn't even black!? she was 100% native american but because she had darker skin that she was catergorized as white!. Keep learning about your heritage it makes you you and it's interesting to learn about ourselves!. Hope this helps! Www@QuestionHome@Com

If your great-grandpa moved to Africa and did not marry an African, and neither did your grandparents, then you are 100% white!. Your bloodline doesn't change just because you live somewhere!. If a cat gives birth in an oven, does that make the kittens muffins!?

EDIT: It wouldn't be a good idea to label yourself as "African!." The only country in Sub-Saharan Africa with a significant Caucasian population is South Africa!. If you tell someone you're South African, they will understand!. But if you tell them you're "African," they'll be like "what!.!.!.!.!.!.!."Www@QuestionHome@Com
