Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
English gentry surnames like the Bonham-Carters,Hougham,Fearnley-Whitting!.!.!. etc ,I think 'Harrington,Carrington,Barrington' etc sound a bit posh!.
Anything double barrel, very rare surnames seem to be tied to ancient landed families=aristrocracy!.More common names are found among the common classes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

PERCIVAL
PANKHURST
CRESSINGDON
DONNINGTON

And I've always thought LOCKHART was a great surname!.

Generally, anything double-barrelled is seen to have indicated nobility, like Carter-Jones, Smythe-Donnington, Wesley-Barrell; even if both of the surnames sound common, it seems to work!Www@QuestionHome@Com
