stop right where you are at!.
Where a surname (allegedly) comes from/ originates!.!. and genealogy (tracing your ancestry) are two different topics!.
Think for one minute!. Tracing your family tree back, what would happen if you find that your gr grandfather was in fact adopted at age 2, by someone with a "Spanish" last name!? and in reality, was the son of 2 parents, born in Germany!.
Not to mention the many websites I have seen, which are known by long experienced researchers!.!. to be garbage!. MANY names show up in several places in history, and don't "belong" to one nation or another!.
People in/ from Spain are just like others!. Variations, which come from the genetics of their family members!. They can be dark skin or light, blue eyes, etc!.
Family history is not physical characteristics!. It is identifying (first) your parents, using valid records like birth certificates, etc!. Next, your grandparents!. And so on!.!. back from you!. If you don't use good research!.!. you will pick up the wrong persons!. It is almost guaranteed!. What is the point of history of a person, who is not related to you!?
"My last name comes from such and such a place" is one most common paths for new people here!. And it is a myth!.
