I know this is going to sound a bit off the wall, but I need to find a website that will tell me when ballpoint pens and lined notebook paper were invented!. The notebook paper especially, has a bearing on some of my family history that has been generally accepted, but seems to have no basis in fact!.
I've done a google search and am not finding anything, so I was hoping someone could at least give me some new search terms or phrases that might generate some results!. It was invented by a guy who went to a school that was our cross town rival, Beaumont, High, Beaumont, Texas We weren't allowed to use them not because they were invented by someone from our "enemy" school but because they were not all that reliable!. The frequently skipped back then!. Now, they are much better!. Our Indian Chief tablets we used when I started school in 1941 were ruled or lined!. Started using notebook paper in 3rd grade which was lined!. Skipped the 2nd!. We used fountain pens back then and often times they leaked!. We had to learn our writing using pen staffs and a ink well!. You can appreciate why the printing press made such a difference in learning when you realized there was a time when all books were printed by monks in cells with pens and quills!. Of course, they made their own ink and it was probably better than what we got off a store shelf!. I understand the monks used cow dung!. But if you google in the oldest grandparents you have some times a story will come up and fact about the family!. For example: if you type in Jacques Bernier & Antoinette Grenier who are my 8th great grandparents you find a story about their life together!.
