search "heraldry"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There is no such thing as a family crest!. A crest is part of a coat of arms!. Coats of arms do not belong to surnames and actually, they don't belong to families!. The only exception in Europe would be France or Poland!.

There are numerous peddlers on the internet, at shopping malls, in airports, in magazines etc selling coat of arms(they usually use the misnomer family crest) like they belong to everyone with a particular surname and they don't!. You asked for "my family crest" but later stated "I don't care if it is mine or not!." So, you have contradicted yourself!. The only people who will give you links to those sites are trolls!.
I know those sites have a bad reputation with genealogist!. The family history that comes with them might be your family history and it might not have anything at all to do with your family!.

Actually, there might have been more than one man with your surname, not all necessarily related, that were each granted their own coat of arms, all different!. No one peddler will have all of them!. The only time they will have more than one is if more than one man with the same surname from different national origins were granted one, then they will have one of each and there might have been others!.

You can use your search engine(google isn't necessary) put "coats of arms" or "family crest" and you will come up with those merchants of deceit that are selling them!.

I cannot understand why schools spend so much time teaching kids how to use a computer but still they don't know how to use a search engine!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Just to second norfolk and shirley, and in addition to say that family crests don't necessarily mean ANYTHING AT ALL!. Even if you were genuinely an armigerous ( = "entitled to a coat of arms") person, there would be no reason to suppose that the crest on your coat of arms had any symbolic significance whatsoever!. Fair enough (I just gave a thumbs up to a previous poster for telling it 'like it is' but if you want to find out your 'family crest'), why not try:

Of course, your English assignment might be more interesting if you explained that the question is wrong - if you have the balls to do that you'll probably do well in college - but hey-ho, just follow the assignment and good luck!

Oh the 'meaning' will cost you some money, as will the 'crest'!.!.!. what kind of school do you go to, do they expect you to genuinely research heraldry!?!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I understand that a crest or coat of arms only belongs to one man!. The next one who would have inherited the land/title/estate will then be entitled to have his own coat of arms made up - sometimes a combination of his father's and mother's coats of arms and perhaps including a symbolic reference to some great deed he may have done and would therefore be slightly different from the previous generation!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can also go to www!.ask!.com for some other sites!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Just because there is a family crest with the same name as yours, doesn't mean that family crest is yours!Www@QuestionHome@Com
