Question: UK Ancestry, help me please!!?
Could somebody look up some information on one of my ancestors please!? Here is all that i know of him:

His name was William Smith and he was born in Westoe, South Shields in 1837!.
His Occupation was a ship handler and i know he had at least one daughter ( Annie)!.
If anybody could find out some more details about him, his wife or other children i'd really appreciate it!Www@QuestionHome@Com

UK answer!.
Civil registration became mandatory on July 1st 1837, if he was born in the six weeks prior to that date or after then there's a chance he's registered!. Here's what I found for his possible birth record!.
WS South Shields!. O/N/D quarter V 24 P 131!.
WS South Shields O/N/D V24 P123!.
I'm still searching the census returns for him!.
The problem I have is that it is such a "common " surname, I found this one for you but there are so many of them, Will you let me know if you think this could be him!.
