That would imply that it is a part of your biology, your genetics!. You have a birth name!. Second, and most important, to do this in any state, you must be over 18!. Anyone under 18 cannot file the legal paperwork to do this!. A parent has to do it for them!. You need to contact the local county courthouse of the county you live in for these details!. The laws and requirements vary by state, and the fees vary by county!. Therefore we cannot tell you how much it will cost!. There is not a single fee that applies to the whole country!. Depending on your county, it can range between $100 and $500!. Most localities do not require you to have a lawyer for this!. You can take care of it yourself through your county courthouse!. Once you have the legal name change, you will need to do all of the following: 1!. Provide a certified copy of the court order to your local social security administration office and your local DMV to get your name changed on your SS card and on your driver's license and car title!. 2!. Next, go to your bank and do the same thing for your bank accounts!. 3!. Then contact all your creditors to have your name changed on all your accounts, credit cards, loans, monthly bills (electric, water, phone, etc)!. And ask the cleck there to tell you where to go to get the paper work so that you can change your name!.
