Question: How can I find my relation to another person!? !?
My friend and I have discovered that we have very similar surnames in our family history!. I think I have found the person that may be our "link," but are there any ways that I can find out if people are cousins!? I think her gr-gr-grandfather and my gr-gr-grandfather may have either been brothers or first cousins, but I can't figure out how to prove this!.
Any ideas!? I need help going back into European records!.
Thanks! Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can start playing around with http://www!.familysearch!.org/Eng/Library/!.!.!.
This is the wbsite for the huge genealogy database at the church of the LatterDay Saints!. In fact, if you live near one of their churches, you can go there and get a lot of help!. (The good yhing is that they don't try to convert you, only give you help with your genealogy)!. They've put together a lot of info from European records so this may help!.

Another source is http://www!.ellisisland!.org/default!.asp which has records of when people came to the U!.S!.!.

The tough part you'll have is since you're going back 5 generations, a lot of records in Europe may have been lost (they've had a couple of big wars there)!. If you can trace back to towns in Europe, many church records still exist!.

This can be fun, but it can be frustrating, so good luck!.

Well there is always DNA testing!.

Ancestry offers a testing where you can limit the search to one side of your family!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
