Unlike today where NHS care is free, a doctor was a professional who had a bill to be paid!. Not everybody could afford to pay to see a doctor except when it was probably too late!. In this case the doctor is basically saying that he last saw the deceased 14 days before he died and that the cause of death was bronchitis!. In all probability though, he'fd have suffered from the disease for much longer - this date is just when the doctor certifying the death first saw the patient and diagnosed the symptoms!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, it means that the person died of bronchitis that was of 14 days duration!.

I had one similar that died of laryngitis of '8 days certified'!. I'd never thought that someone could die of laryngitis before, or for that matter bronchitis!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It means a GP certified the death as being due to bronchitis and he or she had been suffering from it for 14 days !.Www@QuestionHome@Com

perhaps he had this bronchitis for 14 days and that it has been confirmed by a gp if you are not sure contact the office you picked the death certificate up from they will probably helpWww@QuestionHome@Com
