Question: How do I know for sure that I've found the RIGHT marriage record!?
My ggg grandfather was Wm T!. Craig!. The 1900 census indicates he was married 3 times!. I have him with a "Mary J!. Craig" in 1860 (Dunklin county,MO) and with Sarah Ann Jordan from 1875 to 1900!. They would've married in Dunklin county, MO also!. Or thereabouts!.!.!.!.
Mary J!. Craig died in 1868, in Dunklin county,MO!. In 1870, I did find a census record for a William T!. & "Mary E!." Craig!. There is a 9-yr-old child named Amanda living with them!. I found a marriage record for a "William T!. Craig" and "Mrs Mary E!. Roberts" in Lawrence county, Alabama (supposedly where Wm's mother was from) on April 11, 1869!. How do I know, for sure, that I've found the right marriage record!? If it's correct, that would make "Amanda" a Roberts, not a Craig!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Are you sure that the child, Amanda, wasn't born to Mary J!. Craig around 1861!? Or could you find an earlier census listing for Mary E!. Roberts in Lawrence County, Alabama, determine her previous husband's name, and find a record of Amanda's birth to verify that she was in fact Wm T Craig's stepdaughter!? (Which would also confirm that you had the right marriage record!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com
