Red hair and fair skin were common among the Normans of old!. Since the mutual invasions of the area between the Brits and the Normans, that has leveled out a little and the red hair trait has toned down!. They're also taller and lankier than many French!.

One common genetic trait is a long, thin, straight nose, as well as long, bony fingers!. Some believe it has to do with the combination of the weather (which gets treacherous) and the salt air/fishing communities!.

Most Normans in "the olden days" were involved in fishing or farming!. There were quite a few apple and pear farmers in the region!.

From a religious standpoint, it was an interesting area!. They were the seat of Calvinist Protestantism, fueled in large part by the British rule of the area in the 1400s/1500s!.

90% of all the original settlers of Canada were Normans!. Many had to convert back to Catholicism in order to move to the French colonies in Quebec and Acadia because the French Crown didn't want the Protestants causing problems in their colonies and mandated that only Catholics could settle in the Canadian colonies!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Normans of history were descendants of the Vikings, and their dna is almost impossible to tell apart!. As you might imagine, big men with red or fair hair were common!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
