Hi Kelz,

It would be the date he died, or probate, then the Will will tell you the date it was made!.

Some information from TNA about Wills!.

The "will date" is the date the will was signed!. Until the will is filed, it's just a piece of paper!. But each will replaces the ones written earlier!. So when the will it is filed it will say "The Last Will and Testament of John Doe, dated whatever date, as amended on suchandsucha date"!. If someone comes up with a will with a more recent date, they can contest the one that is filed and it will be known by its date!. That's how the Court keeps track of all the disparate pieces of paper and knows which one is determinant!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Usually they are indexed by the date they were probated, which can be several months after the date of death!. BUT some sites might index them by date of death, just depends on the site!.
