As someone whose name starts with an S, I'd love to fund research to see if people whose last names are at the end of the alphabet suffer additional stress and anxiety waiting for their surname to be called!. Because of this, as a teacher, I occasionally reverse the alphabet if I have to call roll!.

Then again, occasionally being the last to be called makes for a more memorable performance; for example, the last person to graduate receives the most applause!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

My maiden name started with an L!. Right in the middle!. That meant that all through school, I didn't have to be first or last for anything, neither of which is a good thing to be!. Now that I am married, my last name starts with an A!. I find that useful in locating my name on anything I may be listed on, like my work schedule, or my paycheck being on the top of the pile!. It is easier to find your name when it is at the top and you don't have to scroll down!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
