I'm reading Thomas Hardy's "Under the Greenwood Tree" and this morning got to the page where Dick Dewy gives out his business card on which he calls the family business 'Tranters and Hauliers' and goes on to read: "Furniture, Coals, Potatoes, Live and Dead Stock removed to any distance!.!.!." Perhaps a carrier was the same sort of thing!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
