Question: Information on the last name "Pinex"!?

I met someone today with the last name Pinex!. I was intrigued, but when I asked what it was derivative of, they didn't have a clue!.!.!.lol!.!.!. I couldn't find anything either in my search !.!.!. Does anyone have any insight on the history or meaning!?!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's been in the US since the early 1800s but there isn't any sign where it came from or what it was originally!. There aren't many records, but they seem to go back to Virginia and North Carolina where they were slave owners and their slaves carried on their name after the Civil War!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
