As CR has said, it is not possible to view the UK civil registers in any form!. The national Indexes are available on line at various sites, either as transcribed indexes or as images of the indexes!. These indexes are to the national copy of the registers!. The best indexes are the ones being produced as CountyBMD indexes!. These are transcripts of the local Registrar's indexes and are checked against the registrar's original register, NOT the national COPY!. This removes a significant number of errors!. Have a look at the UKBMD site (www!.ukbmd!.org!.uk ) for an explanation of the differences and for links to all the available sites!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Afraid not in England ( or Wales ) You can in Scotland however on the GROS site Scotlandspeople !.Stautory Registartionn started in 1855 and you can download digitisd images as follows : Births 1855 to 1907 ; Deaths 1855 - 1907 ; Marriages 1855 to 1932 and Parish Records from 1553 to 1854 !. All the census extracts can be downloaded in digitised from 1841 through to 1901 !. Note that the census extracts for Scotland on Ancestry!.co!.uk are NOT digitised images but written up extracts !. Short answer: No!. There's no such thing!. Only in Scotland, and even then, certain privacy laws and the data protection act mean that you can't look at anything remotely recent - 100years for births, 75 for marriages and 50 for deaths!.

The English are supposed to be following suit in the next couple of years at the GRO website, but the privacy rules are likely to be the same!. Don't make any plans on being able to view any certificates belonging to yourself, your parents or any member of your family likely to be still alive!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The previous answerers are quite correct when they say that you cannot view certificates on line!. You could sign up to Genes Reunited and look at indexes there!. I use the site and it seems to be quite good!. It costs £9 for six months' membership, and if you want to look at registers/indexes you have then to buy "credits" at £5 a time!. Every time you inspect a register it costs you one credit (which equals 10p), so you get 50 "credits" for your £5!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you mean birth marriage or death certificates, you can't view them on-line, only the index's!. You can order them for Wales and England from http://www!.gro!.gov!.uk/gro/content/ or you contact the relevant register office!. They usually cost £7, but more for quick postage/overseas etc!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
