This is a British name with, apparently, several different spelling!.
Honore, Honor, Honnor, Honner, Honour were listed on the message boards as variants!.

There's a boy on my street called Ant Honnor

But he's very disconnected - A few days ago i delivered a package to him (Mail Man delivered to wrong door), He answered the door and i said hi, then he said nothing !.!.

I Said Here's Your Parcel and he put his hands out !.!.

It was very awkward being there loll ;]

I suspect if you was to get back far enough you would discover, as another answerer has already suggested, that it is a spelling variant of Honour!.

More unusual names do tend to have interesting spelling variants, especially in the early 19thC when not so many people could read and the vicar or registrar just spelt the name as it was pronouced to him and the person concerned just made their "X" on the form and hence couldn't read to check that it was recorded correctly!. Eventually, the new spelling variant sticks, and we're left with the modern version!.

I've one branch of my family who were spelt in the records as both Sharwood and Sherwood!. I'm still not sure which is correct!. It eventually settled down to Sherwood in about 1890, but for the 100 years previously was almost always Sharwood!. An ancestor named Giles had his name spelt in the records variously as Jeeles, Geeles and even Geles at one point!. I could name many other examples in my tree alone - including those that add or drop an extra letter such as Clark/Clarke!. It can be very dangerous in genealogy to be possessive of your surname and assume that it has always had the same spelling, because it probably hasn't!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
