My Great grandfather and grandmother are from Berlin!. I wanted to know if any of their genes would carry down to me via the bloodline!.I know it diminishes,just don't know how much!.

You could have had a Japanese ancestor 300 years ago and you would still have some of that blood(probably a fraction like 1/200th though)!. You would probably by 50% German if you use percentages, and I don't know about your other side of the family, but you could be even more then that!. I personally am around 75% German and I am very proud of it!. I even speak German and drape a German flag in my room!. You would be 1/4 German if they were both full German and they are the only German blood in your family!. This is because one of your four grandparents would be their kid causing them to be 100% German as well!. They may not be the only German blood though, families have intermixed a great deal and it is hard to really track it anymore!. If you really want to know how much of what you are, you will have to do a complete geneology going back at least six generations!.Www@QuestionHome@Com You get your Autosomal DNA 50-50 from both parents coming down from all of your ancestors!. So it doesn't matter what line it comes from!. Most of your DNA is Autosomal!. Y & Mitochondrial are a very minute part!. Now, if you were to do research and as you work back any percentages will probably change!. For instance your German Great Grandfather might have had a many times great grandfather from France, Poland, or Slovakia!.
