They were brought to the United States in the early part of the 20th Century to be farmed for their fur!. However, by the 1920's and 1930's fur farmers had pretty much given up on them and released them to the wild where they adapted very nicely!. We now have an over abundance of them and they cause quite a bit of damage to the environment!.
