Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: UK answer!. Civil registration didn't start here in the UK until 1st July 1837, so any birth prior to that wouldn't actually be registered!. If the person was baptised then there is a possibility it would be recorded in the Parish registers for the church where the baptism took place!. The actual birth date wouldn't have been recorded but the date of the baptism and the parents name would be on there!. Hope this helps!. Family Search ( the LDS site ) is a freebie !. You will find births and baptisms / Christenings for England and Wales prior to 1837 !.These have been transcribed from the Parish Records and are notoriously strewn with mistakes !
