Question: What is an empty grave called- when the name is on the stone but the body is elsewhere!?

Cenotaph - derived from Greek for 'empty tomb'!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is still a grave as not everyone around will know that there is not a body presently occupying that plot of ground!. But if the head stone only has a birth date and no death date then it is often referred to as a burial plot!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Cenotaph is correct!. I bought a cemetery plot and headstone for my father because the family wanted someplace to visit him!. He wanted to be cremated and his ashes scattered but to please all the family I had to do both!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Possibly a commemorative stone!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
