"Kranz" in German means a wreath or garland!. There's also a surname "Rosenkran(t)z", meaning "wreath/garland of roses"!.

Why anybody would get that surname is a question!. Perhaps your ancestor was a florist who made and sold wreaths for a living!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
