Question: I need a bit of assistance!.!.!.!?
Okay, so I'm considering using my uncle's name as either my future son's first or middle name!. Now, my maternal uncle passed away approximately nine years prior to my birth, when his son (my first cousin) was rather young!. My cousin has a four-year-old daughter and I don't know if he'll have more children!. Would it be wrong of me to use my uncle's name for my son!? His name was Darrel, but I would probably respell it to be 'Daryl' or 'Daryll!.' Please try your best to assist me!. Thank you so much for any input you leave me with!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

People name their children after loved ones, best friends, or let's say presidents or celebrities!.
They do this in honor of a person!.
I was named after my paternal grandmother and my mom's best friend!. My sisters were named after paternal aunts and uncles and maternal grandmother!. My brother was named after our dad!.
How HONORED they felt when they found out
And I am honored to have my name used with my nieces!.
BTW my sister Charleen was named after our granddad Charles!. No one asked permission!.
There are a LOT of Thomas' and Williams in my family in uncles, and cousins and g-g-g grandfathers!. That is where it started, ancestors!.
I hope this helpsWww@QuestionHome@Com

I think your uncle would be proud to know his name is so popular!. =) I also do not think it would be improper for both you and your cousin to use his name--regardless of how you spell it!. Even if your cousin had more children, including boys, the name Daryl is used for both ( actress Daryl Hannah, for one instance) these days!. I also went to college with a girl named Daryl , and she pronounced it as "Darl"!. She told me once she'd been named for her Dad!.
PS--My middle name is in honor of my great-uncle, too--one of my maternal grandmother's 6 brothers!. His name was Dale, but my Mom spelled mine as Dayl!.
So, go for it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My dad's brother passed away just before my son was born!. My dad couldn't go to the funeral since he and Mom were in Virginia waiting for the birth!.!. So I gave my son my uncle's name as a middle name!.

My cousins didn't know until several years later when we were discussing family history and they loved the memorial to their dad!.

So go ahead!. I think it is a lovely idea!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Typically the son or daughter have "more" right to his name!. I would just ask your cousin and say be honest with me would you be ok if I took your fathers name for my childs first or middle name!. No harm not fowl!. Better be safe than sorry yah know!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think it would be wrong at all!. But you could always talk to your cousin if you think he might want to use the name down the road!. Here's another spelling!.!.!. Darrell!. It's how I spell my name!. Best of luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Talk it over with your cousin!. I think that would be the first step!. Second step, if he agrees, would be calling the son Darrel, not Daryll because Daryll with a y is a foul name!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I bet your cousin would be thrilled for you to honor his father that way!. Even if he is planning to use that name for a future child, he might not care about that at all!. We have a whole slew of Roberts in our family, all named after my grandfather, and no one has a problem with it!. But as others have said, it can't hurt to ask your cousin first, just so can feel confident that there won't be any hard feelings!. Oh, and I agree with what the other person said!.!.!. stick with the spelling Darrel!. It's the way your uncle spelled it, and it's a lot classier looking than Daryl!. =]Www@QuestionHome@Com
