Short Answer:

You're an American of Indian descent!.

Long Explanation:

---True, the Indo-European language family originated from Sanskrit, a language of the Indian subcontinent that forms the basis for the Zen, Persian, Greek, Latin, Celtic, Teutonic, and Slavic language families!.

---True, Persians and Indians call themselves "Aryan"!.

---From these two facts, already racially-biased anthropologists during the 1930s jumped to the conclusion that a distinct ethnic group that they called "the Aryans" divided into two sub-groups!. According to this theory, one group made its way to Northern Europe while the other came out of the Ukraine steppes to invade the Indian subcontinent!.

About this time, Hitler and Goebbels were casting about for psuedo-scientific theories to back up their belief of German racial superiority!. From a few grains of truth, they falsely concluded that the German people descended from a racially superior group that they called the Aryans!.

Of course, the Nazis disregarded the minor detail that the word "Aryan" as found in Vedic texts meant "righteous' and "noble" and didn't have anything to do with any ethnic group!. What's more, no reference to an invasion of India can be found in any Vedic manuscripts, and no archaeological evidence exists for a sudden invasion of India as well!.

Finally, the racial purity that the Nazis advocated doesn't really exist if 2,000 year old burial sites in Denmark are any indication!. DNA markers of samples tested there show much genetic variation!.

P!. S!. for Ultana (June 24, 2008, 2:15 p!.m!. CDST): "On US Census forms, 90% of Indian Americans self-identify as Asian-Indian, including those who wrote in Dravidian, Bharati, Indo-Aryan, Indo-Dravidian, Hindu, and Pacific Asian!. The US Census classifies the response of 'Aryan' as white, even though responses of 'Indo-Aryan' are counted as Asian!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

Since you are an American citizen, your nationality is nothing but American!.

Your racial heritage might be Northern European!. If you have had a DNA test done and they have based it on your Y & mitchondrial DNA only, then that is very incomplete!. Y & Mitochondrial are a very minute part of your DNA!. They are used in genealogy as they go back a specific line with almost no changes!.

Most of your DNA is autosomal and you get your physical characteristic from it!. If you go back to your 6xgreat grandparents, barring any duplicate, you are directly descended from 510 individuals!. Of those 510 indidividuals you get your Y DNA from 8 and your mitochondrial DNA from 8 but you get your autosomal DNA from all 510!.

When I say "barring any duplicates" what I mean is, for instance, you might find that your 2xgreat grandfather in one family line was your 4xgreat grandfather in another!. A lot of people find out for the first time that they are married to a distant cousin when they start doing family research!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
