I am having great difficulty in finding a Shelby Gilmore Gregory born June 24 1884 Hartsville Tennessee!. I can find him in the 1910 census,and further , but not before, nor can I find any birth records,or his death and marriage record!. Married to Julia 1902!.
also cannot find his son Alvin,Odell,Gregory (b: 1903,Davidson,Tennessee) ; marriage record to Mary,Margaret Dunlap in Tennessee Your help would be greatly appreciated!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I found a marriage record that looks like he started celebrating before he told the clerk what his name was: Groom: Schell Gregory Bride: Julia Lend Simons Date: 16 Jan 1902 County: Sumner Tennessee State Marriages, 1780-2002!. Nashville, TN, USA: Tennessee State Library and Archives There are two more: Schell, Gregory to Lenn Simons on 16 Jan 1902 in Sumner Schell, Gregory to Julia Leno Simon on 16 Jan 1902 in Sumner It looks like this data base has different records for different possible spellings!. I can't find his son's marriage record!. I found one possibility in 1900 by using "Gil*" for a given name and two by using "Shel*" - the asterisk means wild card - and a 5-year range on the birth year!. Gilliam Gregory was the closest!. I couldn't find him in 1920 or 1930!. I hoped he'd have an aged parent or a brother living with him!. Without a second point of reference, ther's no way to prove or disprove Gilliam is him!. We lost our 1890 census in a fire!. He was born after the 1880!. 1900 is your only hope!. This Julia Simon matches the one married to Shelby in 1910!. According to the ancestry!.com database, "Tennessee State Marriages, 1780-2002", they have these years early in the 1900's-- starts with 1897 and then goes to1904,1905, etc!. And, for son Alvin's 1928 marriage, the years jump from 1887 to 1971 in Davidson county!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I was able to find Alvin O Gregory in the 1930 Census!. He is listed as 27 years old, born in Tennessee, parents both born in Tennessee!. His occupation is listed as house painter!. He was 25 years old when he was first married!. Enumerated with him are his wife, Margaret (age 26) and one son, Paul B (age 9 months)!. They are living in Davidson County, Tennessee!.
