Question: Change my last name!?
I want to change my last name to my son's last name!.!.!.I'm not married to his father (nor do I want to be) but I want to have my son's last name!. I know I could change my son's last name to mine, but I would much rather change mine than change my son's!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think you should, having the same last name will create a stronger bond, and you wont have to explian the name situation!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you'll have to go thru the courts to change it (and that costs $$$), your son's father probably won't like it (since you were never married), and it'll entail a LOT of paperwork (all of your records would have to be changed!.

you just need to decide if it's worth the hassle!.

Changing your last name is a big step!. If you still talk to your sons father I would ask him 1st!. I would also think what was in my sons best interest!. If you feel that changing your last name is better for him then go for it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is exactly why all women (married or not) should give their children their own name or hyphenated names!. You'd be better off changing your son's name!. Maybe you could even hyphenate his name!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
