I'm afraid you've hit a funny little nuance in the law!. While the Obamas are considered public figures under "Sullivan v New York Times", her parents and grandparents are not!. No one can research them as long as they're alive without their cooperation!. They haven't chosen to give it, yet!. So we can't get information about her grandparents and great-grandparents until someone decides to release that information!. So far, they haven't released it to anyone for research!. Several people have even volunteered to do the research for free!. Mrs!. Obama's press secretary has declined the offers on her behalf!.
