Question: How can I find someone's actual DOB!?
I have got a month of entry in the birth records, and it also shows mother's maiden name, but I need a proper DOB, and preferably an up to date address but I don't think I can get that!. Can anyone help!? I can't afford to join up to any sites!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

The only way to find the actual date of birth is by asking the person or by buying the birth certificate from the register office where the birth was registered!. You will need to give a reason as to why you want the certificate, there's a space on the application form and you have to give your relationship to the person!. As for the address I doubt very much that you will get that from anywhere on the net, it's one of those things that is covered by the *Data Protection Act* here in the UK!. Why don't you just ask the person for the information!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Records online are normally geared for researching ancestors (usually considered to be dead)!. Living persons should not be open to such info being accessible to anyone, since it is so open to misuse by criminals!. Consider how you might feel, if anyone got your dob/ mom's maiden name and opened up a credit account, using your name!.
Not saying that it isn't out there, and not saying you don't have a valid reason for looking!. Unfortunately, many people believe that ALL INFORMATION is out there on the internet somewhere, and should be open to anyone!.
You might find info if you know the parents/ other family and can find an obit or death notice!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If the person is alive, you shouldn't be able to find his/her DOB on a genealogy site!. We're supposed to hide those for privacy!. Death records, (in the USA, the SSDI is good) may have the exact DOB for dead people!.

Again in the USA, www!.zabasearch!.com seems to be the most recommended site for finding addresses of living people!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You might be able to hire a "skip tracer" to locate the person, but that would be expensive!. They are basically private detectives who specialize in locating people who are alive!.

The skip tracer should inform you of any legal requirments or limitations!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Try Free BMD

I've used this on a few times but as per the previous answer, if it's not very old it won't be on there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Try: http://www!.familysearch!.org/ but if the record is not old enough there's a chance it isn't there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If I wanted a reason to get sacked from work (I'm at the DWP), I could quite easily enter a persons name, rough date of birth into the computer system and get details of living people, but this is against the law - the data protection act and I would get shown the door PDQ for misuse of the IT system!. Random checks are made of staff searches on the national database, and if I'm not going to do it to further my own tree, there's no way I'm going to risk my job for a complete stranger on Yahoo!. I'd hope no-one else would either!. You're essentially asking people to break the law!.

The only legal way to get a date of birth is to apply for a birth certificate from the GRO (cost = £7)!. If it's a recent certificate (50 years or earlier) then they won't issue one anyway unless you can provide the exact date, which is kind of a vicious circle!. Why would a genealogist want a certificate if they already knew everything that was on it!?

As for current addresses, you can try either the online telephone directories (assuming they have a landline and are not ex-directory) at 192!.com (which is a paysite) or the electoral roll (if they are over 18, registered to vote and haven't opted out of appearing on the commercial register), also at 192!.com!. Nothing is by any means 100% certain in the game of tracing living people!. The Data Protection Act makes things very difficult indeed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
