Question: Is it possible to trace two peoples' genealogies to eachother!. If so, how!?

The same as tracing a bug in a computer program!.

First you trace back one line!.

Then the other!. (Assuming just two to compare)

If you go far enough back in time (great-great-great!.!.!.grand!.!.!.) you will end up with a common ancestor!.

It is easiest to do with Royalty as they have the longest records!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I was once asked by the City of Pittsburgh to trace Brad Pitt's genealogy to see if he was in any way related to William Pitt!. It's easy enough!. Brad Pitt's mother happily provided the information I needed to get back to the 1800s!. The I picked up the paper trail and took it back to England!. Then I pulled the proven genealogy of William Pitt and laid it out generation by generation against the lineage I found on Brad!. I found two men from the same city in the same era!. So then I worked with a colleague from that town to find all of the collateral lines of that family!. From there we proved that Brad is a 5th cousin 11 times removed of William Pitt, the founder of Pennsylvania!. It's not a close relationship, but it is what it is and they can use the information however they'd like!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your question makes the assumption that two persons are actually related to each other (they share an ancestor)!. It is completely possible to trace your ancestry; and possible to trace the other person (with their participation)!.
If the "common ancestor" exists!.!. you will find it!.
