UK answer!.
Up until 1929 a girl could marry with parental consent at the age of 12, a boy was allowed to marry at the age of 14 with parental consent!. In 1929 the law was changed, to both sexes needing parental consent at minimum age of 16!. Parental consent was required until a person attained the age of 21, this was changed to 18 in 1969, which still applies today!.
Hope this helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In the UK with the emancipation of women the laws were changed in 1929 to the age of 16, for both sexes with consent of the parents!. Prior to that the legal age with consent from parents was 12 for girls, and 14 for boys!.
In the 1920's on average 24 girls each year were married because they were pregnant!.

The law changed again in the UK in 1968, and a person was considered an adult at the age of 18, and subsequently people were able to be married without consent of parents at age 18!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The youngest ever!? At one time many jurisdictions never had laws specifying a minimum legal age for marriage!. That was still the case in quite a few states in the U!.S!. until at least the 1950s, when marriages at the age of 13 or so were not that uncommon in some areas!.

Even today there is no agreement!. Some states specify a minimum age of 16 with parental consent, and may allow those under 16 to marry by permission of a judge!. Until just a few years ago the minimum age with parental permission in Texas was 14!.

But the absolute answer to the youngest a person could ever marry is pretty much as soon as he or she was old enough to say "I do!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

As other have said, it varies by country, and within the US by state!. In 1859, my g-g-grandmother married a 37 year old man, and she had just turned 13!. One shudders to think it!. But if you go back much farther, you'll find that women were married (by whatever ritual a given culture had) as soon as they were old enough to have their cycles, and thus were old enough to have a baby!. Remember that life spans were much shorter, and as a result, a man might expect to live 35 or so years, and a woman might expect to live even less, and have 6 or 8 children in her short life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There was actually a law snuck through in Arkansas attached to another they wanted to pass!. Now you can legally get married at age 13! It is not supposed to be there but because it was snuck in with the other it got passed, this was just within the past 2 or 3 years this happened!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I know that nowadays you can marry WITH parents consent at 16!.
A few years back teenagers at the age of 16 ran away to a place in scottland to marry each other WITHOUT parents consent because it was legal there!. It was like a lifeline to them!.
Other than that its 18 to marry!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

at the age of consent, 16!. The laws are different everywhere, its a state law thing not federal!. If given permission or emancipated,it can happen younger!.

Depends what country you are in!. Legally without a parents signature in the USA you can marry at 18 or over!. Otherwise you have to have a parents/guardians consent to marry younger then 18 in USA!. When this started I do not know, but its been this way for years and years!. I know that!.!.lolWww@QuestionHome@Com
