Question: Can Anyone Verify My Genealogical Findings!?
Any help would be appreciated!. I am looking for my great-grandmother's parents!. Her name was Onie Mitchell and she was married to Ed Hunt!. They had some kids, and one was named Cason Hunt, my grandfather!. He had George Hunt (my father) with Ethel Will!. Onie and Ed lived in Union Parish Louisiana in the 1910-1930 censuses, but I can not find actual proof of Onie befor then!. I believe her parents were Caroline and Columbus Mitchell who lived in Louisiana as well!. Onie was born around 1868 in Louisiana!. Can anyone verify for me if Caroline and Columbus Mitchell were in fact her parents!? If you can, and are able to help more, can you elaborate on who their parents were!? They were both mulattoes so their white ancestors should be easier to find!. Thank you if you can help!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Since you have 1910-1930 censuses, here is the census for 1900:
Source Citation: Year: 1900; Census Place: Police Jury Ward 2, Union, Louisiana; Roll: T623 584; Page: 15B; Enumeration District: 118!.

Household Members: Name Age
Ed Hunt 38 Born Mar 1862 in Louisiana married 16 years occupation farmer
Ana Hunt 32 Born July 1867 in Louisiana married 16 years mother of 11 children, 7 alive at time of census

The index has her indexed as Ana, but if you look at the actual image, you can see that they wrote Ona

This census makes me wonder if someone other than Caroline was Onie's mother!. It seems odd that she wouldn't appear in the census with her kids!. She might have died by the time the census was taken (maybe in childbirth!? -- THIS part is speculation) You might want to get Onie's death certificate!. If would likely list the names of her parents!. You should be able to tell if we have the right Onie from the names of her siblings in 1880!. I hope this has helped you a little bit!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Are you sure about the date when Onie was born!?
I could not find any married Caroline and Columbus!.
Do you have any more clues!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Here is some additional information that you may or may not have:

Louisiana Marriages, 1718-1925
about Columbus Mitchell
Name: Columbus Mitchell
Spouse: Stella Burks
Marriage Date: 25 May 1892
Marriage Place: Union

Louisiana Marriages, 1718-1925
about Sena Rochell
Name: Sena Rochell
Spouse: Columbus Mitchel
Marriage Date: 21 Feb 1896
Marriage Place: Union

There was another, younger Columbus Mitchell that was also a mulatto living in LA in the 1870 census so it is possible that some of the marriages attributed could be his!. You'll need to verify!.

In the 1870 census it looks like the Mitchell family un Union County, LA may have been sharecropping!. I can't tell for sure!. Land records for that county may help you to identify any mulatto or black Mitchell families between 1860 and 1870!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
