Never mind what a name "sounds" like (and I don't agree that it sounds Asian in the least)!. www!.familysearch!.org is a fairly reputable source, since much of their records comes from original sources (like church records)!. That means that those entries are not guesswork!. I did see that there are MANY entries for this name in Germany!.!. but it is not limited to Germany, it also is found in Scandinavian countries, Switzerland, and other places!. What this does not do is compare Zinn against other names in Germany to know how common it is or is not!.
The real and absolute fact is if you are certain that your relatives were actually from Germany, which would make the persons German!. A person with the Zinn name from Switzerland, would be Swiss, even with that name!. In other words!.!. it all depends on the person, and not the name!. A name does not have any one 'nationality' or more accurately, one single heritage!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
