If you have your mum's DoB go to freebmd!.org!.uk and do a free search for the entry in the register!. You can order a copy of her birth certificate from which will have her maiden name and fathers name and this will let yo do another search for the date and place of their marriage!. You can also try a search of her maiden name only with the registration district where her birth was registered with a date band of perhaps 10 years either side of her birth to see if she had siblings but you have to double check this with details of the parents on those birth certificates before you can be sure

Once you know where her parents used to live and maybe some siblings then you can post all the info you have on the family in somewhere like Genes Reunited or Ancestry!.co!.uk or here and also I've used curiousfox for message board specific to one town or village!.

If your grandparents are too young to be on freebmd (ie post 1920) you can join genes reunited for £10 per month and do the searches on there!.

I know what it's like to be denied knowledge of yor family by a parent!. You could try what I did -- say calmly thay it's your family too and does she have the right to deny you the info, you have a right to know and would she please tell you!. It worked for me with my dad after 50 years of silence but out of loyalty and respect I have waited til he died before trying to trace anyone!. Just think of your mum's feelings too -- she might have good reasonsWww@QuestionHome@Com

You need to think about this carefully!.
Have you asked your mum why she doesn't talk about them !?
I know that may cause her pain but so would finding out you have been looking for them without her knowledge!.
Are you ready to be rejected by them!?
Perhaps you may find out something you won't like!?

I don't know if it's the same elsewhere but parents info is on UK birth certificates and marriage ones so you could start there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

One source I use often is www!.zabasearch!.com or www!.peoplefinder!.com!.!.!. although be alert, both can be out of date!. I assume you do have names!. Not to bum you out, but you also can check the social security death index (via rootsweb!.com) and hopefully, they are still living!.
Personal observation - family feuds can be devastating, and that is putting it mildly!. Due to one, I don't have the opportunity to know 2 of my grandchildren (based on what I KNOW to be lies)!. Just to type this, brings tears to my eyes!.
I pride myself on honesty!.!. so in fairness to your mom!.!. try to keep an open mind!. There may be a valid reason that she chose as she did!. You are an adult (yeah, I checked *smile*), so it is probably time that you have the opportunity to at least meet them!.
Prayers and hugs to you!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Before you go looking, maybe there is a reason your mother doesn't talk about them much!. Tell her what you are intending to do!. She's the best place to start!. Maybe there is a reason you shouldn't go looking!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
