Technically, you won't like it but the name Swinamer itself PROBABLY is limited to Nova Scotia, which you did not want to hear!.
that is, if you limit to the name and that spelling!. And the indication when you run into this!.!. often suggests that it is not the original name!. Sure enough, going through files at rootsweb, someone has worked it to find that the persons were originally named Sweinhammer!. Now, taking that over to familysearch!.org, and looking at one of the persons with this name in 1881 (in Nova Scotia), he indeed says his ethnic origin is German!. Oh!.!. that would be George, born in 1825!. Mind you!.!. Germany is not his place of birth, that is NS!.

You may also want to talk to this submitter, who has worked it back, to another variation, this time Schweinheimer!.

And this lady is also working it, and seems to have record of when they sailed from Europe!.
She may have more details since then!. Germany is correct!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I believe it is German!. If you're persistent, you can search through Ancestry!.com!. You'll find several German ancestors by that name, but most of what's there is listed as Nova Scotia!. If you're REALLY motivated, start tracking birth certificates!. The mother and father's place of birth is usually listed on them!. Go back far enough and you should be able to find the European country of origin for a specific person!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
