I would be fairly sure it is a last name!. BUT!.!. it is possible to have come from different places!. What you CAN do, instead of guessing, is to use valid records, to find where the person with the name came from!. That would be more accurate!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would guess that the name is a sir name changed from Rohnstein to Rohnsten as not to sound too Jewish!. I would further guess that that family was Yiddish living somewhere in Prussia!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
